Hello,
All APO documentation I have seen tell how APO determines the result of individual rules of an inclusive rule strategy. Could some please explain how the system combines the individual results of individual rules of an inclusive rule strategy that contains more than one rule?
Though I doubt this, is the answer simply: The first rule that completely fulfils the requested quantity/date as requested or as specified in the calculation profile? I do not believe this is the answer, as the it seems results of individual rules are some times combined.
Or is the answer this: The system sums up the individual results of the individual rules of the rule strategy until the total sum is greater than or equal to the requested quantity?
The example to illustrate the question is this:
A sales order item has 100 pieces of product P1 from location L1 for a requested delivery date of 21.05.2016. There is no stock of P1 in L1 for that date.
An inclusive rule strategy that has 4 inclusive rules determines the following substitute quantities, all for 21.05.2016:
Rule 1: L2/P2 - 20
L2/P3 - 30
L1/P2 - 10
Rule 2: L1/P3 - 10
L1/P4 - 15
Rule 3: L4/P1 - 30
L4/P2 - 40
Rule 4: L2/P4 - 40
L3/P1 - 40
L3/P3 - 20
Does the system:
a)Keep evaluating the rules until it evaluates Rule 4, with which it confirms 100 pieces? If so, what does the system do if rule 4 were not there?
b)Evaluate rules 1, 2, and 3, and sums up the quantities from rules 1 and 2 and part of the first item in rule 3?
c)Something else?
Thanks.
